Raiden has long stood as one of the defining pillars of the Mortal Kombat series, tracing his origins back to the franchise’s arcade debut on October 8, 1992. While he briefly sat out entries like Mortal Kombat 3 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, and later appeared in a more hidden form as Dark Raiden in Mortal Kombat: Deception, he has otherwise remained a consistent presence throughout the series’ evolution.
His influence even stretches beyond the core franchise, with a guest appearance in Injustice 2—a title otherwise dominated by DC heroes and villains. That crossover alone highlights just how recognizable Raiden has become, effectively serving as an ambassador for the Mortal Kombat universe.
One of his most amusingly puzzling traits comes during his Electric Fly special move, where Raiden unleashes a burst of energy accompanied by what sounds like rapid, almost indecipherable vocalizations. To this day, players still debate what exactly he is saying in the heat of the moment, and the mystery has only fueled fan creativity.
Recently, SuperSisi shared a clip on X playfully attempting to “correctly” transcribe Raiden’s speech, offering interpretations that feel as convincing as they are chaotic. Among the imagined phrases are lines like “Icandosuhh,” “Ibigabiyah,” “Ahteteyahhh,” “Camusaysaaaaa,” “Dadycadaya,” and “Cabayehhh.”
Perhaps the most iconic fan interpretation of all, however, remains the legendary “JOHNNYBOUGHTACAR!”—a phrase so absurd it somehow feels like it could fit perfectly into the series’ over-the-top energy.
