Capcom has unveiled the debut trailer for the next playable character in Street Fighter 6, Akuma. He’s set to join the game’s roster sometime this spring, expanding its lineup.
Akuma will be the 22nd character to join Street Fighter 6, following the recent addition of Ed. This returning fighter, who first appeared as a hidden boss in 1994’s Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, undergoes a significant visual update.
Like other returning characters, Akuma, the younger brother of Ryu and Ken’s master, Gouken, receives a fresh appearance in Street Fighter 6. Notably, his once-red hair is now strikingly white.
When Akuma becomes available in Street Fighter 6 this spring, players can expect to encounter him in Fighting Ground mode and as a master in World Tour mode. Players can take on missions as his student, and they’ll have the opportunity to visit his Gokuento stage, as shown in the reveal trailer.
Alongside Akuma’s arrival, Capcom promises new sound-related features and Battle Hub events in the accompanying update, marking the end of Street Fighter 6’s first year of content. Director Takayuki Nakayama confirms that work on Year 2 content is already in progress.
